Scholars for Charity Recent Updates August 11, 2011 -
Local Commitment, Global Reach Scholars for Charity is committed to helping people build great websites in order to support charity. Currently we are making a stride to providing our service to the local community. Sage Title Agency, a title insurance agency based in northern New Jersey, was our most recent local website. They have donated to Child Fund International (Japan). Their donation will go on to help children who were devastated by the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We really felt strongly about this charity and were moved by its website. The people of Japan are in need of major assistance, and we were glad to have lent a helping hand! -Matthew Iozzio April 25, 2011 -
New Website, Focus, and Members We at Scholars for Charity have created a new website for ourselves along with picking up a new focus. We are now developing a tunnel vision in our organization. This is not a bad thing, but in fact is something much more efficient. Scholars for Charity will now focus solely on making websites. This will allow us to allocate our resources efficiently and also provide a much more positive service for our clients. That being said, we have also created a new website for ourselves in the spirit of the new goal. We hope it is more pleasing to the eyes along with presenting information in such a manner that flows. Again, we hope that you enjoy it. Also, I think I should mention that during the school year we have found ourselves a few new Scholars. First let me start off by welcoming our new web designer, Matthew Longo, to Scholars for Charity. Mr. Longo is set to graduate Passaic Valley High School in a few months and he plans to head into web design and computer troubleshooting and repair. Mr. Longo found us at Scholars for Charity, and it is here where he continues to grow and fine-tune his already advanced web design skills. He has become a knowledgeable resource with computers (inside and out), various electronics, and web designing in general. The tutelage he has received at his high school and on his own are top notch for sure. What we pride ourselves most on is having supportive members who truly have an innate desire to do what they are doing because they are able to make a difference in the lives of everyone involved. He has continued to impress and has never backed off from a challenge; actually I personally believe a tough challenge just motivates him even more because it is something he does not know, it is something he can research and learn, and overall continue to solve the problem. It is people with unfailing determination who strive to succeed and continue to enhance their own learning that we are proud to have onboard. I am very happy with the work he has done so far and I am glad to have him aboard as a Scholar for Charity. Our other new member to the organization is John Pasquariello. He is currently studying at William Paterson University to become a surgeon. It is a long and arduous road, but with persistence the goal is achievable. Currently, Mr. Pasquariello is currently a fire fighter and also an EMT in his hometown of Little Falls. He constantly continues to put others before himself, and that is a quality that we admire at Scholars for Charity. Mr. Pasquariello is not a web designer, but he came to us with a desire to help out. As is only natural for one who is in the emergency medical and fire fighting field, Mr. Pasquariello is to be a public relations specialist. He is a person who needs to interact with others on a day to day basis on what can be the 100th chest pain call for him but it is the first for the individual he is meeting and it most likely is the worst day of that person’s life. Mr. Pasquariello knows how to interact with the public during the worst of times and we believe during the best as well. One thing we know for sure about Mr. Pasquariello is that he is someone that when he puts his mind to something he just keeps on thinking and tries to find out the best possible result. He is a doer and appears loyal to the organizations he is a part of. We wish you well on your long journey becoming a surgeon and we know you will not stop until you succeed. For now however, Mr. Pasquariello will continue to communicate with clients for our organization and we are glad to have him as a Scholar for Charity -Matthew Iozzio April 18, 2011 - Recent Works
Three new websites are now up! These have been works-in-progress for the past two semesters, but now they are finally released—and we are showcasing them in one big update. The first website was made for a teen band—Art of Play. It uses a bright and attention-grabbing color scheme and features their videos, music, and concert information. A talent agent from WDHA radio station—within only a few weeks of the website’s creation—found the site and contacted the band. They booked the band for a huge venue (http://www.wdhafm.com/KidFest2011.aspx), and they found them through our website! The second website is for a local church—Our Lady of Pompeii Roman Catholic Church in Paterson, New Jersey. We worked with the head priest to come up with a very informative website with a dynamic calendar, history section, reflections page, and even Facebook connectivity! We think the personal reflection of the church’s retired pastor, Father Sal, is a great testament to our work: “The image of Our lady of Pompeii and the other photos on the website capture so beautifully and eloquently the grace and simplicity that inspire a true devotion to the Lord.” The purpose of this site is to keep the church’s community strong and tightly-knit, and according to the head priest, pastors have nothing but solid praise for the site! The third website we made is for the Flood Board of Little Falls, New Jersey. Little Falls is known for its giant spring flood, and it is featured on every tri-state news station every year. The website is a source of information, advice, and emergency protocol for the residents of Little Falls. -Anthony Longo Meet the Scholars

Mission StatementScholars for Charity is a group founded by four college students with a desire to do something good in the community with the unique technological skills we possess. Our goal is to use whatever knowledge we gain in school to better the community and world. The recipients of the websites we create donate to a charity instead of paying for the websites. |
